If you want, we will take you for a short journey around the small streets of our kingdom.
Keep your eyes open and be aware of the many details you can find.
When you are able to feel the light and fresh breeze in your lungs, filling them with new energy, than you have
arrived in Lisewo...
Lisewo together with its' neighbouring villages forms a remote but however beautiful community.
For us inhabitants it's a place full personal history, exeptional legends and rich past. Lisewo's specifical charakter is intensified by present tradition and by people giving this tradition the chance of staying alive.
From the admistrative point of view Lisewo is a community.
After World War II in February 1945 the province Pomorskie was restored. Its seat was first of all situated in Toruń an then in April mowed to Bydgoszcz. At the same time the district of Chełmno was segregated into new divisions and communities.
This state was kept until 1954, when further districts were divided into smaller units. Krusin and Lisewo
both were counted to these small units. The next territorial-administrative reform of the province Bydgoszcz
occured in 1973. Communities were reintroduced and rural units deleted. Lisewo regained its status of a community.
In 1975 the province of Toruń was founded and Lisewo was one of the 49 communities belonging to it.
At present Lisewo is a community of the province Kujawsko - Pomorskie.
The village itself occurs in the oldest known documents under the name of Lissow in 1293, Lissaw/Lysaw in 1408 and Leysaw, Leissan, Lysow, Lissowo in 1530.
Lisewo is situated 33 km north of Toruń and 20 km east of Chełmno along an important transport
and communication route. The closest towns are Chełmża (13km) and Wąbrzeżno (17km).
The community of Lisewo is situated in the heart of the province of Kujawsko-Pomorskie.
It's surrounded by the villages: Plużnica, Chelmża, Papowo, Biskupie and Stolno.
Lisewo spreads over an area of 8620 ha and is inhabited by 5,5 thousand people, of which
most are farmers. Local agriculture is dominted by individual farming. 80% of regional benefit is
gained by agriculture, whereas only 0,3% derives from forestry.
The north-south motorway axis Gdańsk-Cieszyn is beeing enlargend at the moment and one of
the motorway- descends is going to be located close to Lisewo. This offers the great
possibility of building up local trade and new firms.
The community herefore offers free space in the village which is meant for new shops like e.g. restaurants, bed and breakfast places, small
hotels.
The community is equipped with a new freshwater-supply system. Three modern pumping
plants guarantee acces to clean water everywhere within the vicinity. Apart from
that Lisewo posesses a new sewage system, which is able to deal with greater amounts of
sewer, should the community be enlargend. A dense net of sanitary kanalisation
amounting the length of 13,4 km makes it possible to supply all the communties'
households with their needs.
